What does it mean when an item is on pre-order?
Some of our products are handmade in small batches, therefore we don’t always have them in stock. When an item is on pre-order, it means that the next batch hasn’t yet completed production, so it will take longer for us to ship it to you. When you purchase a pre-order item, you reserve it in the next batch and guarantee that you will receive it. If you wait until the item becomes available, you may miss out and have to wait until the next batch is ready.
How long will it take for my pre-order item to ship?
You can see the date that the item will be shipped on the pre-order item product page as well as below the product name in your shopping cart. That is the latest date that the item will ship, we will notify you if it becomes available sooner.
How can I tell if my pre-order item has been shipped?
If you log in to your T&M account (or create an account with the same e-mail address used to make the purchase) and navigate to your Orders page, you will see the status of each item in the order. Once the status is showing Fulfilled, it means the item has shipped. You will also receive e-mail notification to your account e-mail address.
What if I buy both pre-order and regular items at the same time?
You will pay for all the items when you place the order and we will ship all the items together on the pre-order ship date or once it becomes available. If you’d prefer not to wait, please place separate orders for regular and pre-order items.
If you’ve already placed a combined order and would like to request that your items ship sooner, please e-mail us at support@threadandmaple.com and we will send you a separate invoice for the pre-order item shipping costs.
How can a pre-order item be sold out?
Since pre-order products are handmade in small batches, this means that we’ve sold out all the items in the upcoming batch. Once we have secured the next batch shipping date, we will open the item for pre-order again. Subscribe to our mailing list to be notified of product releases.
We ship worldwide from Quebec, Canada via Canada Post & UPS. All available shipping options will be displayed at checkout.
We do our best to ship orders within 1-3 business days. Shipping times to USA & Canada are 2-7 business days, with priority options also available. For international orders, shipping times vary depending on your location, but UPS is usually the quickest to arrive within 2 weeks, 3 at most.
So, typically, your package should reach you within 3-10 business days of placing an order when shipping to USA & Canada. In case you want your order to reach you ASAP, then you have the option to select the fast delivery option at checkout (Priority/Xpresspost for CA customers, UPS 3-day Select for USA customers, UPS for international).
We offer free shipping on all Canadian orders over $250 CAD as well as a flat $15 CAD ($20 CAD for parcels over 1kg) rate as a more affordable option for Canadian customers living in remote locations.

USA customers please be advised that UPS doesn't deliver to P.O. Boxes. Kindly select one of the other shipping options if shipping to a P.O. Box. If you select UPS, we will route your shipment via Canada Post + USPS basic option, which takes 2-3 weeks to arrive.
*Kindly note that we are only able to offer free shipping to EU, UK, AU and NZ locations
Our #1 priority is for you to have a great experience with us, no matter what. If you're not happy with your order, we will gladly accept returns or exchanges within 45 days of your order date. Please note that you are responsible for return shipping costs as well as the shipping costs of your original purchase, unless we made a mistake with your order, the item being returned is defective or is covered by our Warranty. Taxes & Fees
As we are a Canadian company, we are required to collect tax on all items sold through our store as per applicable tax laws in Canada depending on your location:
- 5% (GST) in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Northwest Territories, Nunavut, Quebec, Saskatchewan, and Yukon
- 13% (HST) in Ontario
- 15% (HST) in New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island
No tax is collected by us from US/International customers. EU/UK customers can expect to be charged 20% VAT of your order total by local customs. US customers can sometimes be charged import duties as well, particularly for orders over $500USD.
