Support Canadian Makers🍁

We’re a group of Canadian makers who have come together to support one another and to spotlight Canadian-owned small businesses. Here you’ll find a collection of local brands, each with a short story, photos, and links. We invite you to discover, share, and shop local — helping Canadian creativity thrive.

Pine & Purl

About:

Hello - I’m Andrea, the maker and artist behind Pine & Purl. I make fun, cheeky project bags and accessories for knitters, crocheters, and fibre-lovers. When I’m not making bags or exclusive designs, I’m deep in the dye studio creating beautiful small-batch hand-dyed yarn with colourways inspired by books, pop culture, and nature.

I’m also the coordinator of the Fibre at Fern all-inclusive weekend retreat that runs every Spring and Fall at Fern Resort in Orillia, and I co-coordinate the annual Fibre Spirit Festival in Barrie. I love fibre retreats and events - they’re inspiring and cup-filling, and I love the close-knit and long-lasting community connections that are made.

Waxwing Yarn Company

About:

Waxwing Yarn is a Canadian fibre company dedicated to offering 100% Canadian wool yarn—sourced from Canadian farms and spun at Canadian mills. Every skein reflects our commitment to keeping production local while supporting the people and landscapes that make it possible.

Our brand is built on three pillars: community, transparency, and sustainability. We believe in purposeful making, which is why our yarns are available in various skein sizes. This allows makers to purchase more closely to what they need, reduce leftovers, and lower overall project costs. At Waxwing Yarn, our value proposition is simple: craft more, stash less.

Sonder Yarn Co.

About: After a decade as a co-owner of Montreal’s beloved Espace Tricot, Melissa followed her passion for bespoke yarns and launched a company all her own - one built on thoughtful colour, quality bases, and deep creative vision. With yarns milled and dyed in the UK, South Africa, and Peru, Sonder Yarn Co. offers a cohesive palette that feels both intentional and inspiring. The name comes from the word sonder: the realization that every person you encounter is living a life as vivid and complex as your own - and was chosen in an effort to highlight the idea that we all, individually, have stories, experiences, and realities that others can't possibly know. Everyone has a story. Knit yours with Sonder Yarn Co.
