Created by Nadine and Anna of Knitty Kitty, each dumpling is made from recycled leather, giving pre-loved clothing and other leather pieces a beautiful new purpose.
These dumplings are named in honour of Nadine’s mother, Aliette (dark pink), and Anna’s mother, Patricia (light pink), both of whom have faced breast cancer.
The dumplings are available in two sizes: Mini and Maxi

Mini: 7 x 7 x 0.3 cm | 2.75 x 2.75 x 0.12 inches
Thread & Maple is donating 100% of the profits from sales of both dumplings to Breast Cancer Canada. Every purchase supports this cause while celebrating thoughtful craftsmanship and two much-loved mothers.
Welcome friends! We’re excited to invite you to take part in the 2026 Knit for the Girls (KFTG) fundraiser, happening October 24–31, 2026, now in its 6th year! 🎉
Thanks to the incredible generosity of the fiber arts community, over the past five years we’ve raised more than $319,000 CAD ($233,000 USD) for breast cancer research. That includes more than $146,000 CAD raised through our North American fundraisers, plus $186,000 AUD raised through the Australian Knit for the Girls fundraiser.
Breast cancer has touched nearly all of us, whether personally or through someone we love. Through this fundraiser, our fiber arts community can come together to support research that saves lives.
This Year’s Event
Join us — Thread & Maple, Tracie & Jodi of the Grocery Girls , and Karina Moore of Louie & Lola Yarns — as we come together once again to raise funds for life-saving breast cancer research.
This year, we’re making it easier for our North American community to donate on either side of the border and receive a tax receipt in their own country. Canadian donations will support Breast Cancer Canada, while U.S. donations will support the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF).
Both fundraisers count toward our North American Knit for the Girls total, which we’ll be updating here throughout the event.
Our Australian community will once again be fundraising in support of the National Breast Cancer Foundation Australia.
