Background & Bio

Mariah is a dedicated knitting instructor and lifelong maker who brings patience, expertise, and enthusiasm to every class she teaches. A Level II Certified Knitting Instructor through the Craft Yarn Council, she has been sharing her love of knitting since 2021 in both virtual and in-person settings.

Her fiber journey began in 2006, and since then she’s explored crochet, natural dyeing, and even pattern design. This wide range of creative pursuits informs her teaching style, giving students practical skills along with a deeper appreciation for the craft. As a licensed physical therapist, Mariah also brings an understanding of ergonomics and body awareness to her knitting instruction, helping makers find comfort and longevity in their practice.

At Thread & Maple, Mariah creates clear, approachable tutorials and guides as part of our Learning Hub that empower knitters to learn new techniques with confidence. Her thoughtful approach makes complex methods feel accessible, and her joy in the craft shines through in every lesson.

When she’s not teaching or designing resources for the knitting community, you can find Mariah experimenting with naturally dyed yarns, working on a sweater cast-on, or enjoying the rhythm of the stitches with a cozy cup of coffee by her side.
